Why I’m Taking a Facebook Vacation

With the state of the world being with it is, what I am going to do with Facebook is pretty low on the importance scale, but here we are, I’m ready for a shift in energy and didn’t want to leave people wondering where I went.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, many of you have already dumped suckerbergs platform and have dropped off the social media grid. I admit it, I have always wanted to drop off, but I just could not do it. As one who is an L-list public figure, I rely on ongoing interaction with folks in order to stay on people’s radar for books, coaching, and consulting, and with — pardon the number flexing — 5,000 friends and nearly 9,000 likes on my page, honestly that’s not easy to walk away from. Additionally, not only do I believe that I offer positive information and influence, but I enjoy keeping up with all the wonder and whimsy that is shared between friends and family.

That said, there are basically two reasons that I’m taking a break. First, with Facebook’s recent digging in about letting politicians blatantly lie and their resulting complicity in creating division in our community and destruction of democracy, I’m not interested in adding to this particular medium. And second, while I do enjoy the interaction, the amount of time and energy it takes for me to monitor and interact is a lot. I have found myself spread thin with my day job and want to focus on…
