Bruce Reyes-Chow

Bruce is an active speaker and writer on topics of faith, culture, race, parenting, and technology. While he speaks to both religious and secular audiences, he is committed to living and expressing a life and faith that is beautifully complex, unimaginably just, theologically expansive, and excruciatingly kind.

Bruce's work with organizations has dealt with organizational systems, institutional change, and long-term visioning. With individuals, he addresses healthy leadership, work-life balance, and project start-ups. He has experience working with the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Inventory, and The Enneagram, and is a Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach. He is a Senior Consultant and Coach with Convergence and has training in Organizational Transition Leadership and Pastoral Care and Counseling.

Bruce has been an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) since 1995 and has served five churches in the San Francisco Bay Area as a Church Planter, Transitional Pastor, Solo Pastor, and Head of Staff; and is the host of the podcast, BRC & Friends. Bruce is the author of five books with his latest being, “In Defense of Kindness: Why It Matters, How It Changes Our Lives, and How It Can Save the World” (Chalice Press, 2021). He is currently working on his next book, “Everything I Believe about God”.

A 1995 graduate of San Francisco Theological Seminary he was named the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2010 and in 2008 was awarded an honorary Doctorate from Austin College, TX. Also in 2008 he was the first Filipino American and youngest ever elected to the office of Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). He has served on numerous secular and faith-based boards and serves on the Board of Directors of More Light Presbyterians. Bruce continues to advocate and provide training for hybrid worship and technology efforts across multiple denominations.

A lifelong Northern Californian Bruce was born in Stockton, raised in Sacramento, lived in San Franciso for 30 years, and served in Palo Alto for three years. For now, Bruce, his spouse, and two pups are empty-nesting in San Jose, CA.
